Costume Contest

Show Off Your Character!

Come dressed in costume based on this year’s theme, King Arthur’s Camelot, or go your own fantastical way to showcase your creative, renaissance spirit.  Then join us daily at 2 PM at the Garden Stage for your chance to impress the Royal Court and win!


Prizes are awarded for the best Adult and Child costumes each day, and the winners receive 4 tickets to next year's RenFest Southern Maryland and some special treats!

The Rules:

  • You must be a patron of RenFest SOMD (i.e. cast, encampments, vendors, entertainers, and volunteers are not eligible)
  • You may enter the contest both days, but you can only win once
  • You must be present and wearing your full costume to win
  • This contest is open to all ages  
  • You must be  at the stage area by no later than 1:55 pm daily to participate
  • Daily winners each receive 4 free passes to RenFest SOMD 2026 and other fun prizes!
  • Festival producers reserve the right to disqualify any contestant at any time so please behave like nobility!

Fairy House Contest

Help House Our Magical Friends!

Create your best move-in-ready fairy house, gnome home, mouse house or toad abode to contribute to Leonardtown's newest subdivision along our Fairy Trail!    

The contest is open to all ages and free to enter.  


1ST PLACE:  $100 Gift Certificate to Shepherd's Old Field Market

2ND PLACE:  $75 Gift Certificate to Shepherd's Old Field Market

3RD PLACE:  $50 Gift Certificate to Shepherd's Old Field Market

How To Enter

Indicate your participation by sending us your name and a phone number where we can reach you by April 27, 2025.  You can email us at RenFestSOMD@gmail.com or click the button below.  Then drop  off your finished masterpiece to Shepherd's Old Field Market between  May 19th and May 23rd.    We encourage the use of foraged and found objects, but really anything goes as long as it can withstand the great outdoors.  All entries become a part of this enchanting trail for the duration of the event.

How To Vote

Entries will be displayed along the Fairy Trail.  All RenFest Southern Maryland participants are encouraged to vote for their favorites until 6pm on Sunday, May 25th.  We'll tally up the totals and announce winners at the close of the festival.  Winners do not have to be present to win---but won't it be fun if you are?!
